How-To Guide

How to Create & Manage Profiles

Profiles let you apply different protection settings to different family members or devices. Each profile has its own filter settings, custom rules, and routines — completely independent from each other.

The two profile types

Router Profile

Protects everything on your home Wi-Fi. This is your default household-level filter — every device on your network benefits from it.

Child / Device Profile

A stricter, personal profile for a specific family member's device. Installed directly on the device for protection even on mobile data.

1

Add a New Profile

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Tap the + Add Profile button.
  3. Give the profile a name (e.g., your child's name or the device name like "Aisha's iPhone").
  4. Tap Create Profile.

Core Protection includes the Home Router profile. Complete Family Protection includes the Home Router plus 3 Child/Device profiles. You can purchase additional profiles from the Billing page if needed.

2

Configure Content Filters (Protection Tab)

Once the profile is created, tap it in the Dashboard and open the Protection tab. You'll find three sections:

  • Master Controls — Force Safe Search (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo) and Restricted YouTube Mode. Recommended for all children.
  • Category Filters — Block entire categories: Adult & Pornography, Gambling, Malware, Drugs, Dating Sites, Social Networks, Gaming, Proxy & VPNs, Ads & Trackers, and more. Toggle each switch on or off.
  • Specific Apps & Services — Target individual platforms: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, Roblox, Fortnite, WhatsApp, Discord, Spotify, and more. (Complete plan required.)

Changes to Protection settings are applied within seconds — no reboot or device restart needed.

3

Set Up the Device

  1. Tap the Device Setup tab on the profile.
  2. Use the Android pairing portal and Private DNS, an Apple .mobileconfig profile, or the Windows/macOS DNS instructions shown for the device.
  3. Once set up, the device's DNS traffic is routed through this profile's filter — even on mobile data.
4

Monitor Activity (Complete Plan)

  1. Activity Logs summarise DNS activity for a profile, including totals, trends, and leading allowed or blocked domains. They are not a browser-history transcript of every page viewed.
  2. You can see which sites were allowed and which were blocked, broken down by time of day.
  3. Use this to spot patterns — for example, late-night activity or frequent attempts to reach blocked content.
5

Edit or Delete a Profile

  • To rename a profile or change its age group, tap the Settings tab on the profile card.
  • To delete a profile, open the profile Settings tab and scroll to the bottom — tap Delete Profile and confirm. Note: deleting a profile also removes all its routines and custom rules.

Deleting an extra profile frees the slot for another device but does not stop the R29/month charge. Cancel the extra slot from Billing to stop future billing.

Common Issues

  • If the profile shows as inactive in the Dashboard, make sure the device's DNS is configured to use this profile's unique DoH address — not the Router profile's address.
  • Filter changes not taking effect? Try disconnecting and reconnecting the device from Wi-Fi to flush DNS cache.
  • On iPhones, ensure iCloud Private Relay is disabled — it bypasses DNS filtering.
