How to Use Custom Allow & Block Rules
Custom Rules give you precise control over individual websites and domains — unblock a work tool that's being caught by a filter, or add an extra block for something not covered by the standard categories.
Complete Plan required. Custom Rules are available on the Fitra Guard Complete Family plan. You can upgrade from the Billing page.
Allow Rule
Forces a domain to always load, even if it would normally be blocked by a Category Filter or App block. Use this for legitimate work or school sites.
Example: zoom.us, classroom.google.com
Block Rule
Forces a specific domain to always be blocked, even if it's not caught by any category filter. Use this for sites you want to explicitly remove.
Example: specific-game.com, a news site
Navigate to Custom Rules
- →Go to your Dashboard and tap the profile you want to add the rule to.
- →Tap the Custom Rules tab.
- →You'll see two lists: Allowed (green) and Blocked (red).
Add an Allow Rule (Unblock a Site)
- →Tap + Add Rule.
- →Enter the domain name — just the domain, without
https://or a trailing slash. For example:zoom.usorclassroom.google.com. - →Select Allow as the action.
- →Tap Save Rule. The domain will now always load on this profile.
Tip: If only a sub-page is blocked (e.g., docs.google.com but not all of Google), add just the sub-domain as its own allow rule.
Add a Block Rule (Block a Specific Site)
- →Tap + Add Rule.
- →Enter the domain to block (e.g.,
specific-game.com). - →Select Block as the action.
- →Tap Save Rule. Attempts to visit this domain will now be blocked on this profile.
Delete a Custom Rule
- →In the Custom Rules tab, find the rule you want to remove.
- →Tap the delete icon (bin) next to the rule.
- →Confirm the deletion. The domain will revert to being handled by the standard category filters.
How Custom Rules Interact With Category Filters
- →Allow rules always win. If a domain appears in both a Category Filter block list and your Allow rules, the Allow rule takes priority and the site will load.
- →Block rules always win. If a domain is on your Block list but not blocked by any category, it will still be blocked.
- →Custom Rules apply only to the specific profile they're set on — they don't affect other profiles in your household.
- →Changes typically take effect within a few seconds — no reboot needed.
